Inverse Additive Problems for Minkowski Sumsets II

چکیده
The Brunn–Minkowski Theorem asserts that μd(A+B)1/d ≥ μd(A) + μd(B) 1/d for convex bodies A,B ⊆ R , where μd denotes the d-dimensional Lebesgue measure. It is well known that equality holds if and only if A and B are homothetic, but few characterizations of equality in other related bounds are known. Let H be a hyperplane. Bonnesen later strengthened this bound by showing μd(A+B)≥ (M1/(d−1) +N1/(d−1))d−1 ( μd(A) M + μd(B) N ) , Communicated by Marco Abate. On the Dimension of Iterated Sumsets
kA = {a1 + . . .+ ak : ai ∈ A}. We show that for any non-decreasing sequence {αk} ∞ k=1 taking values in [0, 1], there exists a compact set A such that kA has Hausdorff dimension αk for all k ≥ 1. We also show how to control various kinds of dimension simultaneously for families of iterated sumsets. These results are in stark contrast to the Plünnecke-Rusza inequalities in additive combinatoric...
متن کاملm-Projections involving Minkowski inverse and range symmetric property in Minkowski space
In this paper we study the impact of Minkowski metric matrix on a projection in the Minkowski Space M along with their basic algebraic and geometric properties. The relation between the m-projections and the Minkowski inverse of a matrix A in the minkowski space M is derived. In the remaining portion commutativity of Minkowski inverse in Minkowski Space M is analyzed in terms of m-projections as...
متن کاملSome Additive Combinatorics Problems in Matrix Rings
We study the distribution of singular and unimodular matrices in sumsets in matrix rings over finite fields. We apply these results to estimate the largest prime divisor of the determinants in sumsets in matrix rings over the integers. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. 11C20, 11D79, 11T23
متن کاملThe additive structure of the squares inside rings
When defining the amount of additive structure on a set it is often convenient to consider certain sumsets; Calculating the cardinality of these sumsets can elucidate the set’s underlying structure. We begin by investigating finite sets of perfect squares and associated sumsets. We reveal how arithmetic progressions efficiently reduce the cardinality of sumsets and provide estimates for the min...
متن کاملTopology of Cayley graphs applied to inverse additive problems
We present the basic isopermetric structure theory, obtaining some new simplified proofs. Let 1 ≤ r ≤ k be integers. As an application, we obtain simple descriptions for the subsets S of an abelian group with |kS| ≤ k|S|−k+1 or |kS−rS|−(k+r)|S|, where where S denotes as usual the Minkowski sum of copies of S. These results may be applied to several questions in Combinatorics and Additive Combin...
